About the session:

Hope in a High-Tech Future

As technology accelerates, so does anxiety about what the future holds. AI, automation, and digital systems are often framed through fear, uncertainty, and loss of control. But what if hope is the missing psychological skill we need most in a tech-shaped future?

In this session Melissa will draw on positive psychology research and insights from her work with future technology to explore the powerful relationship between future technology and human hope.

We will unpack why fear dominates many tech narratives, how hope functions as a protective and motivational force, and what this means for individuals, practitioners, and organisations.

Expect a thought-provoking blend of research, real-world examples, and practical reflections designed to help reframe the future from something to fear into something we can actively shape.
